.Zistboom: Air pollution and use of narcotics are the main challenges facing the health sector of Iran
Dr. Ali Akbar Sayyari, the deputy health minister, also told IRNA on Friday a person dies every two hours in Tehran due to air pollution
"Only 5 percent of the days were reported as clean in Tehran in the Iranian year that ended March 2013,” he said
Sayyari noted that 70,000 dilapidated automobiles are on Tehran’s streets, each of which has a threefold polluting potential compared with vehicle standards
He also said between 20,000 and 30,000 drug injection addicts are living in Iran, which increase the risk of infectious diseases like HIV among citizens
.The deputy minister, however, said self-care and increasing public awareness about these diseases can help reduce the associated risks
"Youths are exposed to hallucinatory drugs such as meth and cracks,” he said, warning that the use of such drugs can raise the risk of crimes, including murder, suicide and risky sexual behaviors
.Sayyari blamed social and economic problems for the rising drug abuse and its consequences in Iran
